¿Qué pasos debo seguir para presentar un título universitario o certificado analítico argentino en una universidad del exterior?
First of all, we always recommend to check the requirements of the university (as they may vary), although we will detail the most common steps. It is usually recommended not to get rid of the original documents, so in most cases a true copy certified by a Notary Public after legalization at the Ministry of the Internal Affairs is advisable.
To put it plainly, the usual steps are as follows:
- Certify the original document at the Legalization Department of the corresponding university.
- (Only for university degrees issued before 2012 or secondary or tertiary degrees issued before 2010) certify the original document at the Ministry of the Internal Affairs. To do so, you must request an appointment through the Ministry's website. (link).
- Fotocopiar el documento original de manera que sea completamente legible.
- Make a completely clear and legible photocopy of the original document.
- Certify the signature of the Notary Public at the Notaries Public Association.
- Apostille the original document at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship. The procedure is done through the website called "Tramites a Distancia". (link).
- Hire a Sworn Translator registered in the Sworn Translators Association (Colegio de Traductores Públicos) to translate the certified and apostilled copy. NSC Idiomas is in charge of translating, cetifying and advising clients for this purpose.
- Legalize the certified translation at the Sworn Translators Association and pay the corresponding legalization fee. The legalization can be perfomed by a handwritten or digital signature. In the Association's website you will find all the information (link) or you can consult your doubts by e-mail, telephone to 1539450205 or by Wharsapp.
- In many cases, the legalized public translation is also apostilled.
What if the document comes from abroad and I have to present it at an Argentine university?
If the document comes from abroad, it must have the Hague Apostille in order to be translated by a Sworn Translator and to be recognized as valid by the Argentine authorities. In that case, you can contact the Consulate or Embassy of the corresponding country.
What happens if the document must be presented abroad in a non-Hague Convention country?
En ese caso, en el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, se le coloca un «habilitado». Ante la duda, también se puede optar por consultar en la embajada o consulado correspondiente.
